Quick maths without the mental arithmetic

Percentages trip people up because the same number can mean different things. For "what is 15% of £80?", use the percentage calculator. To see how much a price or a bill has gone up or down, use percentage change, which always measures against the starting value, so a rise from £80 to £100 is 25%, not 20%.

Shopping and going out: the discount calculator shows the sale price and exactly how much you save. For an extra discount on an already reduced price, run it twice: 20% off and then 10% off is 28% off in total, not 30%. The tip and bill split calculator adds a tip and divides the total between any number of people.

Planning a journey? The fuel cost calculator takes the distance in miles or kilometres and your car's fuel use in litres per 100 km, and the length converter moves between metric and imperial units.
